I have a treat for you this week, one that makes by heart so full and so happy that it literally brings tears to my eyes. Not because it makes me sad, but because i feel so much pride, joy and so so SO much love.
9 years…of Casa Do Zouk, yes you heard right…9 f@#ken YEARS of a vibrant, happy & fun event held on the Gold Coast by non other than K&L Dance…that’s Kadu & Larissa who just happen to be my dear friends.
Casa do Zouk 2023
For anyone that’s ever been in business or know someone who has will understand that 9 years of being in business or, holding a big event is a big deal! Now, add the fact that about 5 years ago Larissa moved from Australia to the USA & Kadu to Spain yet, they decided to continue holding Casa do Zouk here at the Gold Coast. Successfully planning an event from overseas is no easy feat so, I’m sure you’ll understand why I feel so much pride for them. Determination and hard work is what Kadu & Larissa have in spades, it’s that type of “grit” that sets them apart and has propelled them to become the best Zouk dancers in world (at least in my eyes and the eyes of many others!) but, what’s even more beautiful and important in all of this is that their grit helps inspire thousands of dancers across the globe to dream big, practice hard and never give up.
So without further or do, thank you Kadu & Larissa for Casa do Zouk 2023, because of you we, the volunteers and participants that come together from around the world, get to smile, dance, laugh, perform, dream, be inspired and hug friends we have’t seen for a long time…it is therapy for many, including me!
Where there is music there is movement, where there is movement there is positive energy and, where there is positive energy there is connection, health, kindness, hope and love.
Casa do Zouk…thank you for the life energy you’ve showered me with throughout the last 9 years! And Guri (Kadu) and Guria (Larissa), thank you for providing me (and thousands of others) with a place to be imperfectly perfect, a place to connect and a place where lifelong friendships are made. Amo voces!
